2 И пришли вестники и сообщили Иосафату: «Огромное войско идет на тебя из-за моря, из Эдома. Оно уже в Хацецон-Тамаре», то есть в Эн-Геди. |
3 Испугался Иосафат, решил просить ГОСПОДА о защите и объявил пост по всей Иудее. |
4 И собрался народ молить ГОСПОДА о помощи. Из всех городов пришли люди молить ГОСПОДА. |
5 |
6 и сказал: «О ГОСПОДИ, Боже отцов наших! Не Ты ли Бог, в небесах обитающий? Не в Твоей ли власти царства всех народов? Сильна и крепка Твоя рука, и никто против Тебя не устоит. |
7 Не Ты ли, Боже наш, изгнал жителей этой земли ради народа Своего Израиля и навеки отдал ее потомкам любимого Тобой Авраама? |
8 Поселившись здесь, они построили Святилище для имени Твоего и сказали: |
9 „Если придет к нам беда — карающий меч, моровое поветрие или голод, встанем мы перед этим Храмом, перед Тобой, ибо здесь — имя Твое, и призовем Тебя в бедствии нашем — и Ты услышишь нас и спасешь!“ |
10 И вот теперь нагрянули аммонитяне, моавитяне и жители горы Сеир, в чьи земли Ты не пустил израильтян, когда те возвращались из Египта (прошли они мимо, не погубив этих народов). |
11 Они же отплатили нам тем, что явились изгнать нас из Твоих владений, которые Ты дал нам. |
12 Боже наш! Сверши суд Свой! Бессильны мы против идущего на нас огромного полчища, не знаем, как быть. К Тебе обращаем наши взоры!» |
13 |
14 И тогда среди этого собрания народа сошел Дух ГОСПОДЕНЬ на левита Яхазиэля, одного из потомков Асафа. Был он сыном Захарии, внуком Бенаи, правнуком Еиэля, праправнуком Маттаньи. |
15 Он сказал: «Слушайте, все иудеи, жители Иерусалима и царь Иосафат! Так говорит вам ГОСПОДЬ: „Не страшитесь, не бойтесь огромного полчища, ибо битва эта Божья, а не ваша. |
16 Завтра идите против них. Сейчас они проходят подъемом Циц, и вы найдете их на краю долины, возле пустыни Еруэль“. |
17 Но вам не придется сражаться в той битве. Стойте и смотрите, как Сам ГОСПОДЬ избавит вас, о иудеи и жители Иерусалима! Не страшитесь, не бойтесь! Завтра идите навстречу врагам, и ГОСПОДЬ пребудет с вами». |

19 Затем левиты из родов Кехата и Корея поднялись, чтобы прославить громогласно ГОСПОДА, Бога Израилева. |
20 |

22 |
23 Аммонитяне с моавитянами напали на жителей горы Сеир и стали убивать их и уничтожать, а когда перебили всех до последнего, принялись истреблять друг друга. |
24 |
25 Тогда Иосафат и весь народ спустились собрать добычу. Нашли они у врагов много добра — одежды и драгоценностей; столько собрали, что не могли унести. Три дня они уносили добычу, так она была велика. |
26 На четвертый день собрались они в Долине благословения. Это место и поныне называется Долиной благословения, потому что там благословляли ГОСПОДА. |

30 В царстве Иосафата прекратились войны, Бог даровал ему мир повсюду. |
31 |
32 Он следовал по пути отца своего Асы и не сходил с него, творя то, что праведно в глазах ГОСПОДА. |
33 Только капища на холмах разрушены не были: народ еще не обратил сердце к Богу своих отцов. |
34 |
35 |
36 Они объединились, чтобы построить корабли для плавания в Таршиш. Корабли были построены в Ецьон-Гевере. |
37 Но Елиэзер, сын Додавы из Мареши, произнес пророчество против Иосафата: «За то, что ты заключил договор с Охозией, ГОСПОДЬ разрушит дело рук твоих!» И корабли разбились о скалы, не достигнув Таршиша. |
